Today I had Rebecca Meadors, owner of Silver Saddle Saloon and David Timm join me for some big cat chasing on Lake Granbury….and she caught a giant!
Rebecca isn’t a rookie when it comes to fishing, as she is usually striper fishing with Brazos Bettys fishing team. However, she said it had been a long time since she had been catfishing, and had never caught a big bluecat. Thankfully for her, David had decided to purchase a gift certificate for a guided trip from us!

This blue cat had the lightest bit for a fish its size…almost thought it was a dink messing with the line. Bite…slack….bite….slack. When I told Rebecca to reel the line until we saw if there was a fish on, none of us were expecting it to be a 31lbs-10oz blue! This fish fought hard, but Rebecca fought harder. This fish messed around and found out!

Rebecca also caught a 15lb blue and some nice eaters. But the fish story doesn’t end there. She lost what would have very likely been a new lake record(40+lbs)right at the boat! Huge takedown, and super good fight, but the fish decided to make a run to the back of the boat and show itself to us right before it broke us off on the shallow water anchors. Heartbreak!

All in all it was a great day and I’m glad that Rebecca and David decided to brave the cold weather and catch her new personal best catfish! Thanks for the trip you two!
